Our guild hosted a workshop last Saturday to learn how to make the Mexican Star Quilt. Our fellow guild member, Tania Jobson taught the class. We have been privileged as a guild to have her join us for the past 2 years. She and her family are here from Australia on military duty. The workshop was so much fun. Here is my progress so far:
From strips, squares, and folded triangles, to.....
This! The next step is to fold back the edges of the triangles to give the curved effect and then quilt it.
More to come.
Buzz for now,
Merritt
This quilt looks terrific! Love the colours too. Nice of your group to make Tanya feel welcome when she and her family are so far away from home and familiar surroundings.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. We have enjoyed having them here so much. It's going to be hard to see them go. All the more reason to come for a visit "Down Under", though.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful, even as it is now. I'm sure the curves will enhance it more. I LOVE your fabrics! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteThank you, Love. Those fabrics were a last minute purchase the night before the class as Hobby Lobby was closing. The pink centers I already had. I really wanted to make this quilt in batiks and had no idea that Hobby Lobby carried batiks, much less enough fabrics to choose from.
